Bride and Groom's first look in front of Roche Harbor

Quirky Southern Belle Wedding | Roche Harbor Resort

Roche Harbor wedding invitation suite

My Dad’s whole side of the family is from Houston, Texas so I was pumped when Jamie and JW came to me for their Roche Harbor Wedding, in the San Juan Islands! The two of them live in Houston but chose to get married here, in the Pacific Northwest. A place Jamie has spent a lot of time, over the years, with her Mom and family. I loved our over-the-phone planning meetings because they felt very familiar. Something about that slight Southern accent and all the y’alls is so comforting!

Jamie and JW were extremely laid back! They initially told me they didn’t even want a set time for dinner. They just wanted the day to be fun and relaxing, choosing to focus more on providing a unique and entertaining experience for their guests!

They opted for understated decor and stuck with clean, white linens and lush, hanging garlands. For the Ceremony, Jamie followed two Flower Men down an aisle of white petals leading to a simple driftwood arch. During Cocktail Hour, family and friends could “shop” at a beautiful market cart that held fresh produce, an amazing charcuterie board and raw oysters. A caricaturist drew funny cartoon versions of guests while they sipped cocktails, on the patio. When the sun went down, Side One rocked the house! Guests danced the night away and were treated to cake and a little face painting! Yep, face painting!! The Mother of the Groom sported a bright pink mustache for most of the night. Yessss!!!

This may not sound like your average Southern Belle wedding but they did stick to a few traditions. For example, they included a House Party–something I had never heard of. This made their Bridal Parties 15 and 17, respectively! The biggest to date, for me. Jamie and JW’s families and friends were not only a blast but a pleasure to work with. The whole day was topped off by the fact that Jamie’s Grandfather was able to fly out to officiate the wedding, just a week after being in the hospital!
