Rattlesnake Lake Sunrise Elopement | Washington State

Sophia and Scott traveled from Florida to elope at Rattlesnake Lake, one of Washington State’s most iconic locations! These middle school sweethearts had visited Washington in the past and fell in love with it, even in the winter!

With a small group of family and friends, Sophia & Scott got married in early March–They squeaked in right before Washington shutdown, due to Covid-19. They wanted to hike on the day of their elopement but didn’t want to force guests to–We decided they’d do a sunrise hike up to Rattlesnake Ledge and family would meet them a little later for ceremony.

It was a beautiful, sunny morning! We had the lake all to ourselves except for one uninvited guest, a goose that swam right up behind Sophia & Scott and honked until Sophia yelled back at it–Something to the effect of “STFU!”.

After the ceremony, the group headed back to the cabin for a catered brunch, mimosa bar and cake. Sophia & Scott had booked a riverfront cabin, just 30 minutes from Rattlesnake Lake. We lit the outdoor fireplace and set up a bold and funky table on the back porch. They wanted to include their favorite colors, hunter green and teal, into their elopement color palette. The Pinterest board Sophia sent me also included navy and mustard yellow, which immediately caught my eye. To balance all the rich tones, we went with neutral florals and incorporated wood elements to make the design feel a little more laid-back and a lot more PNW. I was nervous sending over this design plan because it’s so different but they loved it and it’s easily one of my favorite table designs ever!!

The best thing about a sunrise timeline is that all the “formal” programming is done early. You have the rest of the day to relax, hang with family and friends or like Sophia & Scott, take a nap!
